Our club’s February activity is scheduled for Saturday, February 8th, when we will be cruising over to St. Martinville, LA to eat at The St. John Restaurant. You can find their menu at thestjohnrestaurant.com but the reviews are very positive and their prices look to be very reasonable. The restaurant is right on Bayou Teche. For those of you who remember high school literature class, Longfellow’s Evangeline Oak is within a mile away from the restaurant and the Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site is also close by. Another area attraction is swamp tours at Lake Martin which is close to Breaux Bridge.
Our reservation at The St. John Restaurant is for 12:30PM so we are planning to leave from our usual Port Allen meeting site (the McDonalds Restaurant on LA 415 just north of I-10) for 11:00AM. Please arrive there before 11:00AM with enough fuel already in your car for the trip. It is roughly 60 miles to St. Martinville. The weather for Saturday calls for a high temperature around 70 degrees with only about 30% chance of rain so it looks to be a perfect day to let our Mustangs stretch their legs!
If anyone is interested in doing the swamp tour, I will need to get a headcount before Saturday. The cost is $20 per adult and children 12 and under are $10. I figure we should be able to have a comfortable meal at the restaurant and be able to drive to Lake Martin by 2:30-3:00PM. This would be a special tour in addition to their normal schedule so that is why I would need a headcount to make the arrangements.
I am excited about this cruise and I hope you will be too. I will pass a sign up sheet at our Wednesday meeting. If you can’t make Wednesday’s meeting but still want to attend the cruise, please send a reply email to the club emailbox, [email protected], and tell us the number of people in your group and if you want to do the swamp tour.
